Biography

Neil Smith has spent his entire career with this firm. He joined Nix Patterson in 1996 and has devoted his entire legal career to representing injured victims. His work has focused primarily on catastrophic injuries, product liability, and sexual abuse cases. He has also served as lead counsel in patent litigation cases.

Neil routinely works on important newsworthy sex abuse cases across the country. He has represented victims abused by: televangelists, Hindu gurus, Catholic school teachers, religious school teachers, public school teachers, ministers, Jehovah’s Witness members and elders, deacons, pastors, counselors, pharmacists, doctors, and apocalyptic cult leaders.

Because of his work, organizations that harmed innocent children have been stripped of their assets and their members held accountable. Neil enjoys establishing relationships with his clients while working on cases that bring about positive changes.

Neil obtained a $35 million verdict against the Jehovah’s Witness religious organization.  His client was awarded damages for the abuse she suffered after the church failed to protect her from a known child molester.

Neil represented the child brides of Tony Alamo, a televangelist and cult leader.  Two documentaries and a book documented the litigation.  His clients appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and were on the cover of People Magazine.

In his spare time, Neil enjoys running marathons and ultramarathons. He is most proud of his finishes at Western States 100, Leadville 100, and Badwater 135.
